Facility Overview

What is a facility?

A facility on MedTrack is a place where healthcare services are provided to patients. It can include hospitals, and other medical facilities that offer various health services such as pharmacy and laboratory.

To distinguish between different types of facilities, we have the following categories:

  • Hospital: A facility that provides comprehensive medical care, including emergency services, surgeries, and specialized treatments.
  • Pharmacy: A facility that dispenses medications and provides pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Laboratory: A facility that conducts diagnostic tests and analyses to support patient care.
  • Department: A specialized unit within a facility that focuses on specific areas of healthcare, such as cardiology or pediatrics. Only a hospital can have departments.

Parent Facility and Sub-Facility

A parent facility is a facility that has one or more sub-facilities under its management. A sub-facility is a facility that operates under the umbrella of a parent facility. For example, a hospital may have multiple departments (such as eye department, dental department, etc.) as well as a pharmacy and laboratory services. In this case the pharmacy and laboratory are sub-facilities of the hospital.

Facility Account

Each facility has an admin account that is used to manage the facility's operations and staff. The admin account is the email used to create the facility account.

Facility User Roles

Facility users can have different roles within the facility. The following roles are available:

  • Admin: The admin has full access to the facility's operations and can manage all aspects of the facility, including staff, patients, and services. This is the account used to create the facility.

  • Doctor: Doctors have access to patient information and can provide medical care to patients within the facility. A doctor can be assigned to a department within a hospital.

  • Nurse: Nurses have access to patient information and can provide care to patients within the facility. A nurse can be assigned to a department within a hospital.

  • Pharmacist: Pharmacists have access to medication information and can dispense medications to patients. A pharmacist is usually assigned to a pharmacy and not a hospital.

  • Laboratory Technician: Laboratory technicians have access to diagnostic test information and can perform tests and analyses within the facility. A laboratory technician is usually assigned to a laboratory and not a hospital. They also submit reports to the doctor.

When adding a new user to the facility, the admin can assign one or more roles to the user. The user will have access to the facility's operations based on their assigned roles.

Facility User Status

The admin if the facility can activate or deactivate a user account. When a user account is deactivated, the user will not be able to access the facility's operations until the account is activated again.
